Talk about renting out your house

Can someone tell me how hard it is to find good tenants?

My neighbours moved away to their new house a couple of months ago and they rented out their house to this decent looking family who in turn rented some of the rooms out (without the knowledge of the landlord). We've seen a couple of different people walk in and out of their house. My former neighbours used to have beautiful looking plants and garden but I've not seen the new tenants put any effort in trimming the plants or taking care of them.

Their son had a friend who has absolutely no manners who parked his car right in front of my gate! We walked to every neighbour who threw a party that night to ask if it belonged to any of them. It was 1am. We waited, and honked for an hour before that friend of their son came out who was so rude.

Not long ago, their electricity bill got sent to our house accidentally with some warning letter informing that they'll cut the supply if they do not settle the bill. And right now, at 2.40am, some weird man is knocking frantically on their gate in the middle of the night to no answer. I totally have no idea what's going on in their house. Oh my gosh... I pity my former neighbours...

I'm not sure I'd ever invest in properties for cashflow...

Are you the Ant or the Grasshopper?

The Ant and the Grasshopper

One summer day, a grasshopper was singing, chirping and having a wonderful time. He saw an ant busy gathering and storing grain for the winter.
"Stop & talk to me," said the grasshopper. "We can sing some songs & dance for a while."
"Oh no," said the ant. "Winter is coming and I need to store up food. I think you should do the same."
"Oh, now is not a good time. Winter is a long time off! There will be enough food for me so I'm not bothered," said the grasshopper. So he continued to dance and sing and chip while the ant continued to work.
Then winter came. The grasshopper had no food and was starving. He went to the ant's house and asked, "Can I have some wheat or maybe a few kernels of corn? Without it I will starve," whined the grasshopper.
"You danced last summer," said the ants in disgust. "You can continue to dance." And they gave him no food.

So, are you ready for the next recession?
Ready when inflation hits and everything more than doubles the price?
